Are these driving rules valid?

A while back I wrote these, which I consider, considerate driving rules/tips. I'd like to know what some points against them are as constructive criticism. Please provide a reason behind why you're against any of these items, if you disagree with any of them. Or suggest more if you agree.

1. Turn right into the right lane.

2. Turn left into the left lane.

3. Use your signal BEFORE braking.

4. The left lane is for passing and not-slow people. Move out of the way. Specially if you drive an SUV or a truck.

5. Right of way means that whatever you do does not affect what I'm already doing. Pulling out of a parking lot in front of me doesn't mean I have to slow down, it means you need to speed up

6. Take two parking spots and you'll find your car keyed or not able to get in it. Park in the back if you car is that delicate.

7. If you can't control your big a$s truck, don't drive it. Are you even transporting anything? Then why be in the way?

8. The pedestrian crossing is not for motor vehicles, learn to calculate your braking distance.

9. Don't take 2 hours to reach 30mph after a traffic light, specially if you're on the left lane, and specially if you keep "rushing" the traffic light since it turned red.

10. Don't wait to turn left in the middle of the intersection, specially if you're a truck or an SUV, you block the view for the person that wants to turn left in front of you.

11. Don't drive at the same speed as the person next to you, get behind or in front so that traffic can flow.

12. If someone moves over for you, don't be a douchebag and stay in their blind spot or take 2 hours to pass them. Return the favor and pass them so that they can come back to the left lane if/when they need to.

13. Do you enjoy driving behind a semi going 10 miles below the speed limit? It's as annoying for a car to be behind a truck and/or van.

14. "Fast drivers" are not dangerous and slow drivers are not safe. People who drive TOO fast or TOO slow IN RELATION to the overall traffic or in the wrong lanes are dangerous.

15. Keep your eyes on the road. Your the passenger can still hear you, even if you're looking at the road ahead. Better be safe than polite.

16. Joining the freeway at 30 mph is not safe.

17. If you need to change more than 2 lanes, turn your signal off after each one so people will know you're waiting to change again and not think that you're an idiot who forgot to turn them off.

18. Use your cruise control to avoid involuntary speedups and slowdowns and also avoiding looking like an a$s or a douche.|||(This has now come up on the UK site, so left/right swapped in my comments vs. the question).

I'd agree with everything except keying someone else's car.

Many of the things you mention annoy the hell out of me, like people staying in the right lane for miles on end when not overtaking.

The worst are probably the prats who insist on driving 10 - 20mph under the speed limit. I wonder how meany deaths they are responsible for, due to people getting frustrated %26amp; overtaking when not really safe..|||thanks for the rant!|||A while back I wrote these, which I consider, considerate driving rules/tips.

You are completely wrong in your assessment of what you wrote. What you have is an insulting rant, and I don't know why you wasted your time or ours posting them here.

Just for an example: Take two parking spots and you'll find your car keyed or not able to get in it. Park in the back if you car is that delicate.

That can get you hurt. Badly hurt. The rest are not a bit better.

I doubt you will have the answers you seem to want.|||First the word is ESPECIALLY, not specially. Specially would mean something was done in a special way.

Second Right of way is YIELDED not owned. This whole idea of they need to speed up, not you need to slow down, is going to get you a ticket when you rear-end them. It is YOUR JOB as a driver to avoid accidents.

Third WTF is someone in front of you waiting to turn left if you are in the intersection? How are you blocking their view? Where are they if they are IN FRONT OF YOU? Once again poor English. The term you are HOPEFULLY looking for is ACROSS from you.

A lot of these ARE just rants and insulting ones at that. Some of them are common sense things that SHOULD be followed.|||These are not driving rules for you.

There are rants about people in your way.

I see you have several complaints about large vehicles that block you. You need to ride a small motorcycle to understand *how* to drive to avoid others.
