Are this driving rules valid?

A while back I wrote these, which I consider, considerate driving rules/tips. I'd like to know what some points against them are as constructive criticism. Please provide a reason behind why you're against any of these items, if you disagree with any of them. Or suggest more if you agree.

1. Turn right into the right lane.

2. Turn left into the left lane.

3. Use your signal BEFORE braking.

4. The left lane is for passing and not-slow people. Move out of the way. Specially if you drive an SUV or a truck.

5. Right of way means that whatever you do does not affect what I'm already doing. Pulling out of a parking lot in front of me doesn't mean I have to slow down, it means you need to speed up

6. Take two parking spots and you'll find your car keyed or not able to get in it. Park in the back if you car is that delicate.

7. If you can't control your big a$s truck, don't drive it. Are you even transporting anything? Then why be in the way?

8. The pedestrian crossing is not for motor vehicles, learn to calculate your braking distance.

9. Don't take 2 hours to reach 30mph after a traffic light, specially if you're on the left lane, and specially if you keep "rushing" the traffic light since it turned red.

10. Don't wait to turn left in the middle of the intersection, specially if you're a truck or an SUV, you block the view for the person that wants to turn left in front of you.

11. Don't drive at the same speed as the person next to you, get behind or in front so that traffic can flow.

12. If someone moves over for you, don't be a douchebag and stay in their blind spot or take 2 hours to pass them. Return the favor and pass them so that they can come back to the left lane if/when they need to.

13. Do you enjoy driving behind a semi going 10 miles below the speed limit? It's as annoying for a car to be behind a truck and/or van.

14. "Fast drivers" are not dangerous and slow drivers are not safe. People who drive TOO fast or TOO slow IN RELATION to the overall traffic or in the wrong lanes are dangerous.

15. Keep your eyes on the road. Your the passenger can still hear you, even if you're looking at the road ahead. Better be safe than polite.

16. Joining the freeway at 30 mph is not safe.

17. If you need to change more than 2 lanes, turn your signal off after each one so people will know you're waiting to change again and not think that you're an idiot who forgot to turn them off.

18. Use your cruise control to avoid involuntary speedups and slowdowns and also avoiding looking like an a$s or a douche.|||Thank you , I agree with every rule you listed , you are reasonable and fair . I wish you would run for office .|||Most of the things you mentioned are laws where I live.

I do wish we had a law about being in the left/passing lane when not passing...it really would help the flow of traffic.

I hope you have a strong grasp of all of these concepts before you get behind the wheel of a car. The lives of my family, friends, neighbors and my life, plus the health and peace of mind of all of us could be affected by a driver who is not really prepared to handle all the risks and responsibilities of turning the key that activates a vehicle.

Reckless driving need advice?

I was taking a friend to a bus station parking lot because i didnt want to drive the whole distance to someones house, it was raining that day and i didnt know the area pretty well. at the last minute when i had to take a right into a empty parking lot area my car's back end slipped and its my first rear wheel drive car and has a decent amout of power its a lexus. so it semi went sideways. i corrected it and panicked and hit the gas when correcting vs the brake. but my traction control is semi to blame also because it went off but didnt really do much to the situation but made it worse locking a bit. when i finally stopped i saw the cop come in the same entrance from a left turn so im not sure if he saw the whole thing or just herd sounds. and asks me if i am having fun doing circles.

but i got a ticket for reckless driving and he didnt really listen to my story and said i was there to drift. whats my options? it litterally was open no people around at all so i wasnt endangering people|||my advise......learn to drive.....|||Even if your version it the truth, you still admit that you "got the brake and gas mixed up". Whether on accident, or on purpose, what happened to you was reckless driving and you are at fault for it, as you admitted a few times. The defense "my car has more power than I can handle" isn't going to hold up in court.

Take the ticket, go to driving school and mark it up as a lesson learned.

Good luck|||Were you taking a short cut through a parking lot at some point? To me, that's what is sounds like.

You don't take short cuts through parking lots. That's a no, no.

It was raining, you're skidding (going too fast), trying to get car back in control.

You can't justify the "cars" performance, weren't familiar with brake system. Parking lots are 15 miles per hour...cars or no cars. Doesn't matter.

You were driving too fast for conditions. The officer wasn't blindly giving you a ticket .... he/she saw you or could have been watching you slip, sliding away, which adds up to reckless driving.

Police officers see what we don't see. They've been doing their job for so long, they don't miss too much at all. They also have heard every story there is to tell. He even said, were you having fun doing circles? Yes, he saw you. He didn't give you a ticket by sound alone.

Court Case: Vehicular Manslaughter.?

So for my senior Government class, we are doing mock trials. I wrote the trial and it is as follows:

A man, john doe, and his sister are driving to work. The roads are icy, and a thick fog makes visibility very difficult. John is driving at about 65 mph. He reaches a hill and begins descending down when he notices flashing lights marking a wreck up ahead. He tries to slow down and begins skidding due to the ice. A Highway patrolman, parked only a short distance before the accident, notices the car driving follows him to pull him over for driving at an unreasonable speed through an accident zone. As doe is struggling to slow down and control his car, he tries even more with the HP behind him. His car fishtails and hits a firefighter doing traffic control at aprox. 55 mph. The firefighter dies at the scene. He is being charged with Vehicular manslaughter, and the reason it will be considered vehicular manslaughter, is because he was charged with reckless driving for driving at an unreasonable speed approaching an accident scene.

Is this a good case? I am a defense attorney and need a few ideas. I have a few such as, the law states that, approaching a car accident scene, you must slow down to a reasonable speed the best to your ability. Considering the conditions such as the fog and icy roads, what would be some good arguments? thanks.|||It is foggy, Light reflection in fog can make a vehicles speed impossible to guess. John doe doing 35, was slowing, had time. The officer throwing on his light caused him to push on the brakes on ice. Causing the fish tail. Natural reaction. There was no ice till the accident site. common occurrence on hills. Thus no excess speed. Officers knowing ice was on road used bad judgment. In turning on light. He should realize a persons first reaction is to hit the brakes contributing to accident. No fog other side of hill at that time, common occurrence on hills. A car speeds up when brakes are locked on a down hill slope. When slick or has ice. So good roads till just before the accident. and cop blew it for me, and contributed to death and severity of accident.|||You wrote a case that will be very hard for the defense to win, might even be impossible.

Your driver was driving very recklessly given the conditions ... 65 on ice with heavy fog? The defense bringing up anything to do with the driver not being capable of slowing the car to a reasonable speed will give the prosecution a very hard to answer line of questioning!

"The defense has stated that the driver could not slow their vehicle down to a reasonable speed before they entered the accident scene ... Was the driver's speed reasonable for conditions before they entered the area?"

The defense would have to show that the driver's speed was reasonable for the conditions (hint 65 mph on ice with heavy fog is totally unreasonable).

In this case the best defense is to deal! Cut a deal with the prosecution to plea guilty to a lesser offense in return for a lower sentence! Your client is so wrong in this case he can not win at trial.

If you can do a rewrite of the script ... reduce the driver's speed to about 30 mph (55 mph or higher speed zone), with conditions of light fog and patchy ice or black ice. The terrain should be a down hill grade past the accident. the emergency personnel were working. Then you might have a chance with your intended defense! The defense might be able to argue that the ice took the driver by surprise and that is why he could not control his vehicle.|||One mistake you made in your scenario is the sentence "He tries to slow down and begins skidding due to the ice."

If you are going to be a defense attorney, this sentence, and ones like it will kill your argument in court. Ice did not cause the skidding. The driver's choice to travel too fast for conditions caused the skid. Saying ice caused the skid is like blaming the stop sign for someone failing to stop at it.

I have testified in several cases like this when the weather conditions were brought up as the cause. Haven't lost one yet.

Is it illuminatti or illuminutti?

For ten years the cia and fbi and other agencies went after me just because I have what they considered super in tune abilities to find out what their trying to hide from the public.....What I found was instead of trying to talk to me for ten years directly about my in tuned abilities and not wanting me to know their business...They would go to mental patients, dope addicts, and drunks and put their confidence in to these people to do the fbi and cia job for them....They would get these people to play imitation aliens and shadow people and try to make me think they were e.t....for ten years....

I am laughing hysterical every day because these people expose the cia and fbi business having to do with trying to cover up e.t......It shows me all the time if E.T does exist when they work with alledged E.T how retarded alledged E.T have to be.....The people the cia and fbi get to try to act like alledged E.T stand out in my parking lot or at my door in hearing distance telling me that the cia and fbi hired them to do this......

My question is how secure do you think our country is when these agencies expose their secrets to people who have no problem blabbing to the world what the cia and fbi had them do.....They had these people try to make me think I stood for the Holy Grail.....I cracked up laughing......They had people dress up in costumes (white robes) to make me think Jesus was in the room with me......Four times........

I ask you who do you think is getting more desperate to try to put this mind control on people the fbi or the cia.....It puts a big doubt on the real Jesus if he shows up to make people wonder if he is the real Jesus or the wolf satan in sheeps clothing.....The whole thing is getting really retarded to me.....I know there really is a true God, but I seriously don't think he would really place himself into this retarded crap.....DO YOU....|||"natti" is the secret organization, "nutti" is just what it says. she swung my sons cricket bat across my head a few times and the final time she made contact with the bat and split my fricking head wide open.

i fell.

my girls screamed @ the sight of their dad on the floor in just his vest, and pants covered in blood.

i swung a kitchen knife at her calf but she was too qiuck and evaded it and struck me across the right arm with the bat.

i feel its broken now.

so i crawled out of my house onto the drive way and got into a car and sped off, and i think i hit an elderly lady - shes okay though but im sure shes got a broken leg or something now.

i heard sirens wailing from a distance so i parked up in an embankment canopied by tall trees.

my head is bloodied up and i have no where else to go.

none of my male friends are helping me. ive called them all.

should i call back home ?|||(: !!!!

B. Fast: a lot faster than many other options, such as biking and walking.

C. Cheap: cheaper compared to airplanes, taxis etc.

D. Good Support: always gas stations etc en route to give support if something goes wrong.

E. Can carpool with others to save time/gas, and as an added bonus, social interactions when other people are in the car.

Why do you like drive your car rather than using public transportation? Give me some opinions or comments. (For the one who choose rather drive cars)

Why do you like to use public transportation? Give me some opinions or comments. (This question is for the one who choose rather take buses)|||Public transportation is not available to all Americans, therefore, it isn't an option. Public transportation puts people in some risk. Not everyone has the spare time to waste getting there early to catch a certain bus nor wants to wait for a certain time to go back home. Personal transportation is very handy and fun if it can be afforded and parking isn't an issue.|||1) Jeep (American)

2) My car!

3) B, and its safer considering some of the thugs that take public trans.

4) A

5) A

6) A, B and C.

Driving a personal vehicle allows me to be comfortable, enjoy a beverage and listen to what I want while taking less time to get there. If I'm in a area I don't like (environment) I can simply drive to another parking spot. I can go where I please without the limitations of public transportation. Besides, public tranportation is not available everywhere, so even if I wanted to use it, its usually Not an option.|||1- 93 Toyota Supra or 2008 Toyta Rav4

2- I ride the bus about 80% of the time. Depends on how much stuff I need to carry and how much flexibility I need.

3- These are all advantages. I like my car for the flexibility, the cargo space, the speed... I also live in a rural area so I only have 4 buses per day. If I don't want to wait an extra hour, I need to get my errands done super fast. If I'm in a car, it's no big deal.

4-A/C. public transit is not very comfortable at all. The biggest advantage to me isn't A or C though, it's the fact that I don't have to think. I can relax, read a book, work on homework, etc... it takes more time but my stress level is so far reduced that it's worth it.

5- Traffic sucks, maintenance/gas/insurance add up a lot faster than a bus pass, traffic sucks

6- inflexibility, feeling like cattle, crazy old people with poor hygiene.

I like having both options and I utilize both options. I love my car because it's a driver's car- designed to be fun to drive and I love it. The Rav is a great vehicle because it has cargo space, towing, passenger space, decent mileage, almost no maintenance costs... I love the bus because I don't have to think and I can just relax while somebody else deals with traffic, pays for fuel, pays for insurance... the list goes on. Both serve their roles and I love both.

So, that looks like either a con or a typo.|||The 1 series is fairly new. I'm from America. I don't quite know the dollar to pound ratio but even I know that that's too low of a price. Especially for a diesel.|||It's gotta be too good to be true. I'll bet if you email him, they will wither be "out of the country" or they will want to "ship" the car two you. Either way, run away!

This is a real problem with auto sales, and growing in popularity with Apartment listings. Someone will post beautiful photos of a nice apartment and claim to be offering it for 1/3 of the running rate, but then when you email them (because there's never a valid phone number) they always want you to fax them your credit report and a deposit for them to mail you a key to tour it (of course, they apologize for being out of the country *rolls his eyes*)|||If that's euros then yes it's too good to be true. This is a common scam.

What should i do? Do i tell someone?

I am 16 years old and i live myself, I am meant to be staying with my mum and dad, but they are both pilots and they have split up. I hardly never see my dad as he cheated on my mum. I come from a respectable family. It is me and my sister, but my sister has also left as she is older and she is training to be a vet. I have told my mum that it is ok that i stay in the house myself as she travels on long haul flights. I dont mind staying by myself and my mum knows that im not going to do anything stupid. In school there is this boy called Paul, he is sixteen as well. I really like him, we have been friends for a since Paul joined the school in May 2008(ish). Paul and me will be leaving school at the end of this year, he is really nice. He isn't cheeky to people and if some older boys are annoying the first years, he will tell them to leave them alone. He is really nice. He also looks nice. Paul told me that he lived with his auntie. I have never seen his auntie. One day after i saw him when he was training for football and i was coming from the library, we were about to kiss, but he ran off before i could say anything. I ran after him but he was too fast for me. I saw him run through the park. I eventually found a caravan, but it was a good distance through the park. I had to go through the park and it was a good distance. No wonder he was fit, if he was walking from there every day. I could never imagine living in a caravan as i have always lived in a big house with 6 bedrooms and a private gate with a large garden. When i got to the caravan i heard shouting and screaming. I ran to the side of it and then i looked into the side window and there was man shouting, i then notice Paul, I couldnt believe what was happening, he had paul over his knee, his trousers and boxer shorts were down as well. He was hitting him with his belt. I mean, he was just giving him a tap, he was swinging the buckle and his backside was all cuts and it looked awful, i felt awful fo him as he was begging him to stop. I assumed that this man was his father. I wondered if he was ever going to stop. I then reached out for my mobile but it had no signal. He then put paul into a room in the caravan, i couldnt see him. The main caravan door opened and i hid underneath the caravan till i saw the man who was htting paul walk out and i watched him till it looked as though he was getting further away from the caravan. I then got up from the ground and tried to open the caravan door but it was broken, so i picked up an old rustie chair and struck the glass on the door and i kicked it until it was all far awy from me so that i could climb through the door. I then noticed that there was lock on the the door that paul was in. I opened it and i saw paul, he was crying, he saw me and he told me to go. He said if he catchs you here. I asked him who that man was, he told me it was his father. I told him that im not going anywhere without him and he came back to my house. I saw a plastic bag and i asked him where his clothes were and he only had some school clothes. I want suprised as he usually came into school smelling a bit dirty. I just thought it was because of all the sports he was playing. I then told him to come with me, before his nut case father came back and he came with me. We ran until eventually we got to my house. After arriving at my house i told him i wanted to know what was going on, he said to me he lived with his auntie. He told me that they have been on the run from his father. He said that his father killed his mother, and thats his mothers sister, he said that she has always looked after him, up until a couple of weeks ago, his autie wasnt at home (caravan) when he came back from school and his father was there. He said his father started hitting him. He also said his father said that his auntie was a stupid ***** like his mother and she got what was coming to her. He said his father is a control friek and when people dont do what he says, he goes mad. I told him that we have got to report this to the police. He begged me not to get the police involved and i havent got the police involved as he has no-where to go. I told him he can stay with me as there is no-one staying with me. He says that he couldnt, but i told him that there is no option or i go to the police. Paul told me that he hasnt got a penny to his name. This all happened last week and he said that his auntie has been missing for over a week and it isnt like her he said. I asked him if the his father was in jail for killing his mother. but he said they could never prove anything. The whole point of me going after him was to find out what was about to happen with the kiss, but we never talked about that subject. Paul is still staying with me and he has been since last week. My house is a very big house and i have private gates o no-one can get in, unless i open the gates. His father hasnt shown up at my house. Paul hardly leaves the house apart from when he goes to sch|||listen sweetie, i read the whole question..and if everything is as you said it is, then it is a serious matter. the man is a murderer and you must call the police. trust me, he can murder you too..paul can go and be a witness. you have to tell the police. or at least your mother or the school counselor or principal.

all the best. =)|||Buddy, you have to tell the police, but insist that you remain anonymous and that they talk to Paul first. I can't imagine what that would be like.|||sorry but no one will read this question way too long|||UH You should probably call the cops... His Aunt is missing and could be dead but he doesn't want to report it? YOU better report it or YOU are going to get in trouble.|||You should keep him there and maybe talk to your parents. If your parents turn him to the police he could be living in a foster home. It depends on your parents, only you know how they would react to what you tell them.|||1)okay have his feelings in mind and wait for evidence before calling the cops or that would be pointless.

2)after you call the cops and finish the trial or get to a good point you might (if it is affordable enough) want to put him into counciling but only if he is willing.

3)be there for him and try to be a couciler for him until he is with a proffesional.

4)you should probaly report that his aunt is missing.

5)if you do report anything then try to see if he can stay with you by any chance as long as he is willing to because he might be able to as long as you can adeqetly take care of him and yourself.

6)get a restraining order against jis dad so that he is safe everywhere.

hope this helps|||you ABSOLUTELY need to call the police RIGHT NOW. they NEED to be made aware of what's going on - - where is his aunt at? do you know or is she missing? if you don't call you're putting yourself, him, and his aunt in a lot of danger. please make the right choice.|||deffinitaly tell someone, talk to someone at school, a teacher, counsellor tell someone you TRUST

see what they say, then go to the police if they advise that

you have to get him some help, his father has no right to do that|||you should speak to your parent, they might be willing to help... you need to tell someone before his dad shows up at your house and you start putting yourself in danger.

Speaking to the police is a good idea, the fact that his auntie is missing sounds serious you need to let them know so they can start looking for her and tell them what you witnessed being done to your friend. It won't be a nice experience at all but it could help things get bet overall. If you leave it and don't do anything the issue might not get sorted.

good luck with whatever you decide to do|||My goodness you have an enormous problem here. You should inform someone. Both you and Paul will be in danger if his father finds out where Paul is.

You need to speak to your parents or someone who can be completely trusted.

I do not know the legalities of this situation. I am glad you gave Paul respite but now you could be in danger.

I am not sure how the police handle this. If they make him go back or if they mention you to his father.

Please be careful and speak to your mom and dad as soon as you can.

Paul's father is a dangerous person. I hope you find the auntie, that sounds very suspect to me.

Good luck.

What would you do in this situation?

Aloha all,

My husband and I live in townhome-style military housing in which every unit has at least one wall adjoining another. We have new neighbors who have a little boy, and I'd put his age at 3 or 4. He seems very sweet and often enjoys peeking into our patio door to check out our two cats (our backyards are not fenced in, so he has access to our yard). He often plays in our backyard, and though I've stuck my head out a few times to say "hello", I've never seen nor met his parents. I am a little concerned that he is outside unsupervised in an unfenced backyard, especially since there are parking lots and streets within easy walking distance, and many of our neighbors have big dogs who may not take kindly to curious little fingers.

Another concern is that his nursery shares a wall with our bedroom. Since they moved in three weeks ago, it seems that he doesn't go to bed until 11 PM, and he is always sobbing and yelling when he's being put to bed. It also sounds as though he throws his toys out of his bed and into the wall. He typically cries for about an hour before falling asleep. My husband and I usually go to bed around 10PM, and my husband has to be up and out the door for work at 5AM. We both find it impossible to sleep while he cries, and although we have tried going to bed earlier, we both get woken up when he cries.

I don't have children myself, but I did spend a lot of time helping my mother with my infant twin brothers as a teenager and I understand that to some extent, you can't always control your child's reaction to bed time, and that there will just be bad nights, but it's been every night for three weeks, and my husband is starting to get intense headaches at work because he's been unable to get enough sleep.

I don't even know if this is something I should bring up with my neighbor. I know that no one likes to feel criticised about their child or their parenting, especially by someone with no children, but I'm worried about the little boy being outside alone and we're exhausted listening to him cry himself to sleep every night.

If you were in this situation, would you say something to Mom and Dad, or would you leave it alone? We could try earplugs or a nonprescription sleep aid to see if that makes a difference at night.|||As far as the sleep issue

I would ask yourself, what good is it going to do if I talk to her or what bad could it do... It's not like a stereo where you can ask to turn down the volume. Screaming children are no fun but when a kid is throwing a fit sometimes parents have to let them scream it out, it's all you can do. My son can be put down and asleep in five minutes. My daughter, not so much. Every night she cries for 30 minutes, I'm not going to get her out of bed because we would be enduring an extra 30 minutes of hell each time I get her up and put her down. By the way.. If the parents want to put their kids to bed at 11:00 that is their business. Yes, most kids are in bed by that time but maybe he takes late naps or maybe he gets up late because of his parents schedule. It sucks that you live on military base but that comes along with the job and I thank your husband for doing his courageous job!

Now as far as the safety issue...I would say something! What if something happened to the little guy around your area? Even though you wouldn't be at fault you may live with the idea that something happened and you didn't say anything. Do you know if his parents let him play alone or is a babysitter there during the day? The parents may not even know their kid is playing with no supervision, I would hope it's not the parents.

That's my opinion|||See a doctor|||you definitely need to firmly tell your neighbor once and for all that the crying should stop. i wouldnt mention the thing about the child being alone, because then it really will sound like you think theyre bad parents. just tell them about your husbands headaches and that it really has been affecting you. maybe they can move his nursery|||I'd really carefully talk to them about it. You know sensitive people can be about their kids and parenting.

Maybe they could move his bed to the other side of his room?

Get a couple of fans for white noise and ear plugs to help drown out the noise. You'll be surprised by how much they help.|||I would be really careful if you say something. Maybe being in a new place is bothering him. try ear plugs. I am sorry you don't have a fence. Because it been said good fences make better neighbors.

A Pizza man that had a bomb locked around his neck on September 4, 2003 do you remember that?

September 4, 2003 - 2:27PM

A US pizza deliveryman who told police he had been forced to rob a bank was killed by a bomb that was attached to a locked metal collar secured around his neck, an FBI agent said Tuesday.

Hoping to find new leads in the bizarre case, law enforcement officials released photographs of the collar and the lock, believing someone may recognise the device and help them by calling a telephone tip line.

FBI Agent Bob Rudge and other members of the law enforcement group investigating Brian Douglas Wells' death provided few details about the bomb itself, though one law enforcement official said the explosive was of a kind he had only seen in Colombia.

A state police spokesman said investigators are still trying to determine whether Wells was a willing participant in the bank robbery outside Erie last week or if he was a "bomb hostage."

FBI experts in Quantico, Virginia, are reconstructing the bomb, which hung from the lock over Wells' chest, and analysing an extensive, multi-page note that was used by the robber, Rudge said. One part of the note was for bank employees, demanding cash during the robbery, and the other part was instructions for the robber, officials said.

On Wednesday, FBI spokesman Bill Crowley confirmed that a second weapon was also found with Wells, but he refused to describe it other than to say it was "unique." In an interview with Good Morning America, Kenneth McCabe, the agent in charge of the FBI's Pittsburgh office, said the weapon was "a sort of a gun."

Crowley also confirmed a statement by McCabe that the explosive used in the device was of a kind he had only seen once, in Bogota, Colombia.

Wells' death has transfixed northwestern Pennsylvania since last Thursday, when police surrounded the 46-year-old pizza deliveryman following the robbery of a PNC Bank branch. After exiting his car and being handcuffed a short distance from the bank, Wells told authorities he had a bomb strapped to him and that someone - he apparently did not say who, if he knew - had started a timer on the bomb and forced him to rob the bank.

While waiting for a bomb squad to arrive, the bomb exploded, killing Wells. No one else was injured.

In the moments before the bomb exploded, Wells asked police why none of them were helping to remove the bomb.

Since Wells' death, law enforcement officials have been chasing down leads but would not discuss if they have had any success. Rudge said Tuesday that authorities hope someone who recognises the collar and lock will give them information that could allow them to determine whether Wells was coerced into robbing the bank or lead them to anyone else who may have been involved.

The collar was "unique in its construction," including a lock with four keyholes and a three-digit combination dial, Rudge said. Bureau officials who examined the collar and lock do not believe it was commercially manufactured, he said.

Rudge and other officials refused to discuss the specific contents the note or the makeup of the bomb, including whether it had a timer or a remote control device.

About 50 people - including FBI personnel, Pennsylvania State Police, and officials with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - are involved in the investigation and are "chasing leads on an hourly basis," Rudge said.

He said he knew of no similar incident ever taking place in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, officials released information from an autopsy on one of Wells' co-workers, Robert Pinetti, 43, who was found dead Sunday at his home in nearby Lawrence Park Township. Pinetti had refused medical assistance around 5am that day and family members found him unresponsive in his bed a few hours later, police said.

Erie County District Attorney Brad Foulk said Pinetti had a history of substance abuse and preliminary testing appeared to show methadone and "valium-type" drugs in his system. There was no trauma and authorities said they have nothing connecting his death to Wells' case.|||Sure I remember that! AND there's been updates since then---on American Justice, on A%26amp;E and some other shows on Court TV....

Bizaarrrrrooooo.....some people think the poor pizza guy "knew" but "didnt know" exactly what those freaks were planning (like he knew part of it but not that they were going to use HIM or blow him up!).

I think the crazy nutso woman was the mastermind behind it. She just got busted but I cant remember her name.|||I LOVE CRIMELIBRARY.COM!

Advice on confrontational situations without becoming aggressive ?

i have dealt with rage and anger all my adult life now due to severe bullying and victimisation......i have BPD and ptsd.

im 30 years old and have had a very difficult unfortunate life so far..

growing up i fought with blacks in secondary school and was also ganged up on and victimised severley by them when i was on my own..

since then many traumatic things have occured all the way through my life.

i live alone on disability and are starting from scratch in life.

i dont have much possessions.

never been employed or gained qualifications etc.

the system has failed me up until recentley as ive not always had consistent care, support and a diagnosis..

i used to have problems with rage and rage outbursts in public, which stems from the bullying i suffered, i would cause myself public embarressment and humiliation and sometimes to be attacked because i lost control of my aggression , paranoia etc.

ive made vast improvements with anger and rage over the years, havent had an outburst for years......however sometimes i have setbacks which i get immensley disappointed about..

its a constant battle to control anger and aggression and theres times if i feel paranoid that people are singling me out......being aloof towards me....playing mind games.....or i interpret a threatening situation........or i see people living their happy lives it can all spark the rage feelings.

which im hoping therapy can help me with, because i accept i have made progress but still have great distances to go..

i suffer low self worth......bad anxiety attacks....struggle to build any social relationships....get clingy.......struggle to control aggression etc..

the other day, i took my bike out for a ride, in effort to get out...get excercise.....get my weight down etc..

because most times i stay cooped inside because of anxiety and ptsd symptoms.

whilst i was out riding my bike, my anger was surfacing again....but not in a bad way.......i was taking my aggression out riding my bike fast......clenching my teeth.......glaring with a serious angry expression.....which i regret now because i didnt plan to get that angry...

whilst riding up a hill, i stopped got off my bike and paused for a rest as i think i over did the excercise..

i took my water bottle out and sat down and rested my bike against the wall for a moment while taking a breather.

something unusual to me then happened, accross the road, but slightly further up, a big expensive sports car parked up, and a big skin headed black guy got out, who was muscular....appear like he worked out and did training etc..

it was unusual because i dont see many black people in the area i live...but ive started to notice some more and more.....which aggrevates my ptsd and aggression because in the past i had many problems with them and was ganged up on by them...

while i was sat down resting with my water bottle, the guy a bit further up, got out of the car.....and cast a lingering look my way.........i held his gaze and he just continued over the road..

he stared at me like he was saying' have i got a problem ' or ' i have a problem with what your doing on your bike etc '..

i didnt understand this behaviour, and felt quite annoyed, angry and aggressive he should target me.....as i have lived in the area 4 years now..

to be honest i struggle to like black people because of all the treatment and bullying i suffered from them.....and when i used to fight them in school....me and a group of others vs ....many large black gropus of people.........and then sometimes on my own...vulnerable with no one around.

he looked at me as i was glancing around with my water bottle, i held gaze, he continued walking.......but i felt very threatened by this stranger i didnt no.....and it aggrevated my ptsd....and i felt angry and aggressive afterwards as these things trigger past memories and aggression.

so the question is simply this;

as a 30 year old male, just trying to get on with his life....mind his own buisiness......control my aggression....work on my problems....lead a peaceful quiet life etc.

when a situation with a stranger like this arises how are you supposed to handle it without getting aggressive and confrontational ?

which could lead to more problems for me if i handle it wrong.

i felt threatened and provoked, and i dont want to ruin my life my starting a confrontation......i just want nothing to do with people like that.

in the past distant years, i used to experience hostile glances like this and i never used to know how to handle them....i used to have aggressive outbursts......cause alot of trouble , cause myself public embarressment etc.

ive not done that for many years...done very well...and want to keep it that way....waiting for therapy etc.

but when someone does that, obviously in far better shape than me...muscular....bigger than i am....glancing at me like ' have i got a problem '.......when im on my own riding my bike....these things i have big problems with.....and it ignites inner rage.

so how do you handle a situation like this ?|||My goodness. You are a very intelligent young man how has had a very difficult life so far.

I think it is good that you have an intellectual view and understanding of your problems and find it refreshing that you realise how much progress you have made. Well done you!!!!!!!

I understand where your aggression comes from in this situation and why you are reacting like you are but I think you know that the only way to avoid this sort situation is not to hold eye contact which can often lead to confrontation.

You know how to control, or at least, deal with your aggression and so I think the answer is within you, and not what people can tell you on this site. By the sounds of thing you have done fantastically in how far you have come and wish you all the luck in the world with dealing with the issues you feel you still need to work through.|||I don't have the same history as you do, so my responses would be different. But I would be inclined to ignore it. I wouldn't automatically assume the guy was thinking negative thoughts about me. I would just go on about my business.

What is the most technologically featured production road car on sale in the UK today?

I am looking to buy a car with excellent drivers tools such as:

I was joking about 5.

What car can one buy today that offers these types of feature, and more? I'm looking for ideas and inspiration.

Can I screw a 3x Zoom Multiplier(Point&Shoot) into the end Filter Ring of Nikkor DX lens with same mm threads?

I have been thinking about an upgrade from a Point and Shoot to a D-SLR for over a year now mainly because my Kodak 5MP is 6 years old now, has an adapter to use Kodak's Wide Angle lens which blocks the flash and I have no focus control.

I really haven't considered any other brands like Canon or Fujifilm, Pentax because I had been set on a Nikon. Specifically the D80. I finally decide after reading countless reviews and the like that I am going to be getting a D80, I have already ordered an 8GB SDHC 150X with 20Mb/s write speed card for my camera.

I had originally thought I was going to get the kit from Best Buy which was the D80 with an Extra Battery, a Case, and an 18 - 135mm and a 70 - 300mm. The latter lens alone is $567(on sale which is normally $630). The body only comes in at $800 and finally the 18 - 135 at $400

That brings the separate total to $1767 and $1830 without the sale price on the 70 - 300mm lens respectively. Basically this means that in their kit price of 1767 they are giving you $100 for the battery and case.

I thought this was an OK deal but I began looking at the kit and I knew absolutely nothing about the lenses from the mm to what they catch in the viewfinder (SLR means what you see is what you get) or anything. I did research to find out what I need to know and I looked at a few friends cameras and set their lenses manually to the same mm specs and took some pictures that I normally would take with my old camera and wow, that gave me a reality check. I now know that I definitely don't want the ranges of lenses that come in that kit.

I start thinking about the information I have at hand and my budget of around $1800, taking into consideration that I mainly use Wide Angles for landscape type shots, I realize that 18mm just is not going to cut it on the low end. I learned that 35mm and below is considered wide but the wide angle on my Kodak must be a Semi-Fish-Eye to Super Wide Angle type. I need a much lower mm to be the width I need at the short distance I am shooting from. Generally the closer to 0 degrees you get the faster the width goes wider so from 18 - 12 is a huge difference which is equivalent to say 70 - 120mm at medium focal length.

I start looking for wide angle Nikon lenses and come across the Nikkor 12 - 24mm which is perfect for what I am wanting (108 degree viewing angle at 12mm) but holy cow this lens is $1099. I am on a bit of a budget so... If I have absolutely got to have this lens I do need one more I think well I and going to use the telephoto a lot too so the logical choice is the 70 - 300mm. So were talking $600 $1100 $800 = $2500 without a bag or spare battery and I realize that the most used mm spec is 35mm(SLR is Film or 35mm) give or take 15mm so we are talking a 20 - 50mm lens. OK Nikon has a 17 - 55mm but it is another $850 or I could get the 18 - 135mm for $400 with extra zoom but a plastic mounting ring rather than metal.

So this bumps me into the $3500 range which is double mu budget. So then I talk to a photographer who suggests non OEM lenses so online at a review of the 12 - 24mm Nikkor and several comparable models and I decide to get the 10 - 20mm Sigma Wide Angle that supports the AF-S functionality of the Nikon D-SLR so AF works (Meaning that the Auto Focus and Silent Wave Motor or Sigma's version of it are driven by the AF function of the D80) and this one is significantly cheaper at around $500 pairing that with a more expensive 18 - 200mm for around $800 and I'm more in the ball park with $2200, it is a better option to spend more on that lense with VR (Vibration Reduction) and have one less lens so the 18 - 135 and 70 - 200 are not split into two lenses which would increase price about $500 and I would be switching all the time.

With these two lenses paired I have all the ranges I want except for the upper telephoto topping out at 200mm. This gets me thinking about something, all the lenses have threads for external filters and the lens hood snaps over but is also the same mm measurement. Why can I not buy a 3x multiplier and screw into the end of the 18 - 200mm making it into a 54 - 600mm lens?

That is the question I am asking you guys...can i do that. The screw in lens is made for the lower end cameras such as point and shoot but if the threads are the same and nothing comes out of the end of the lens which I know it will not because the filters could not be installed otherwise. Can't I use that just for long telephoto which is usually pretty specific of a shot such as a bird or something. There is the possibility that the WYSIWYG will view the outside diameter of the 3X lens showing a ring and black corners on the final picture which is can be easily cropped out anyway.

What do you guys think? the 3x multiplier is $100 verses $1600 for a 80 - 500mm lens. The only problem I could see as a possibility would be the filters screwing on the outside versus the 3x screwing on internally.|||Screwing a "3X multiplier" onto the front of your lens is a bad idea. The resultant loss of quality will make you quickly realize you wasted your money. Its like putting used tires on your new car.

If you want to extend the zoom range of your DSLR lens you will need a Nikon teleconverter. They come in 3 multipliers: 1.4X, 1.7X and 2X.

Just multiply the focal lengths of your zoom lenses: your 18-200 becomes a 36-400 with the 2X.

As in all things, however, there are no solutions, only trade-offs. The increase you gain in focal length with the teleconverter comes with an increase in your effective f-stop. So your 18-200mm f3.5/5.6 zoom not only becomes a 36-400mm it also performs like an f7.0/11.2 lens. Yes, you lose 2 full stops with a 2X teleconverter. However, this isn't as much of a problem as you might think. How can I say that? Easy. I know the old "Sunny 16 Rule". It states: "On a sunny day, set your aperture to f16 and your shutter speed to 1/ISO." In other words, if we're using ISO 400 on a sunny day we can shoot at f16 (f8 with your 2X teleconverter) at a shutter speed of 1/400. Since your lens has VR you'll be able to go even slower.

Buy the 18-200mm zoom with VR and a Nikon 2X teleconverter.

If you want to spend your money wisely, buy a thin/slim mount 72mm Haze/UV filter and a thin/slim mount 72mm circular polarizer. Choose from Heliopan, B+W, Singh-Ray, Tiffen or Hoya. You want a thin/slim mount to avoid vignetting at 18mm. The Haze/UV filter will protect the front element of your lens and remove haze seen in scenic pictures. The polarizer will darken a blue sky, enhance colors, and remove glare/reflections from water, glass, snow, sand and painted metal - but not polished metal.

Buy a lens cleaning cloth like the ones offered by Nikon or PhotoSilk or Pentax. In 37 years I've never used a liquid lens cleaner.

|||I researched before I asked and everything I cam across said the teleconverters would not physically attach to the DX series lenses because they would touch glass to glass so they are not an option*

How to handle confrontational situations you dont cause without getting aggressive ?

i have dealt with rage and anger all my adult life now due to severe bullying and victimisation......i have BPD and ptsd.

im 30 years old and have had a very difficult unfortunate life so far..

growing up i fought with blacks in secondary school and was also ganged up on and victimised severley by them when i was on my own..

since then many traumatic things have occured all the way through my life.

i live alone on disability and are starting from scratch in life.

i dont have much possessions.

never been employed or gained qualifications etc.

the system has failed me up until recentley as ive not always had consistent care, support and a diagnosis..

i used to have problems with rage and rage outbursts in public, which stems from the bullying i suffered, i would cause myself public embarressment and humiliation and sometimes to be attacked because i lost control of my aggression , paranoia etc.

ive made vast improvements with anger and rage over the years, havent had an outburst for years......however sometimes i have setbacks which i get immensley disappointed about..

its a constant battle to control anger and aggression and theres times if i feel paranoid that people are singling me out......being aloof towards me....playing mind games.....or i interpret a threatening situation........or i see people living their happy lives it can all spark the rage feelings.

which im hoping therapy can help me with, because i accept i have made progress but still have great distances to go..

i suffer low self worth......bad anxiety attacks....struggle to build any social relationships....get clingy.......struggle to control aggression etc..

the other day, i took my bike out for a ride, in effort to get out...get excercise.....get my weight down etc..

because most times i stay cooped inside because of anxiety and ptsd symptoms.

whilst i was out riding my bike, my anger was surfacing again....but not in a bad way.......i was taking my aggression out riding my bike fast......clenching my teeth.......glaring with a serious angry expression.....which i regret now because i didnt plan to get that angry...

whilst riding up a hill, i stopped got off my bike and paused for a rest as i think i over did the excercise..

Police dog unleashed on innocent children and a handcuffed man... What should happen to the officer?

http://www.houmatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/鈥?/a>

THIBODAUX -- Residents of a city apartment complex say a police dog went after two children when an officer released it, even though the man he sought was already subdued and handcuffed.

Thibodaux Police Chief Craig Melancon said this morning that he suspended officer Ronnie Comeaux one day without pay after a hearing Friday found that the officer wrongfully took his dog out of his car without a leash during a misdemeanor traffic stop. Melancon said his department鈥檚 two dogs are supposed to be used for felony stops, building searches and drug detection.

Comeaux, who was scheduled to return to work today, will also have to take a course with his dog, Renata. The dog has been taken off patrol missions until it is retrained, Melancon said.

The chief disputed allegations that the dog was purposely unleashed on a crowded street. Instead, Melancon said, the dog broke loose when the officer tried to leash it. The chief said this was the first time he could recall a Thibodaux Police dog breaking loose of its handler.

The incident occurred between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Wednesday outside St. Charles Manor apartments near Sanders Street. Witnesses say Comeaux, a three-year veteran of the department, according to Melancon, said, "Go get him," then released his dog in the direction of Quincy

Wagner, who was handcuffed, barefoot and kneeling on the ground. Wagner had moments earlier fled the officer after a disputed traffic stop, but surrendered after running a short distance on Sanders Street, which runs parallel to the apartment complex.

The dog circled Wagner twice, witnesses said, before knocking a 12-year-old boy down and biting the pants leg of a 10-year-old boy, who had sought refuge by climbing onto a parked car. Neither child was seriously injured. Apartment residents estimated the dog ran free for six to eight minutes while officers issued it commands. Finally, an officer grabbed the dog.

'HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED鈥?br>

Lafourche NAACP President Burnell Tolbert equated Comeaux鈥檚 one-day suspension with a slap on the wrist.

"I think he needs to be fired," Tolbert said.

Further, Tolbert asserted the incident shows that Comeaux was not properly trained.

"We鈥檝e got good control of the dogs," Melancon said. "You have to remember the dogs are highly trained, but they are still dogs."

Courtney Phipps and Sheila Williams, the mothers of the two boys, asked for apologies from police and questioned why Comeaux would release the dog onto a street full of children, particularly when the suspect had been subdued. The mothers added they weren鈥檛 allowed to provide a signed statement when they went to the department Wednesday night. Williams said she met with an officer named John Sutton, but that all he did was take her name.

"They did come in," Melancon said of the two mothers, "but they came in at the officer鈥檚 request. The children were photographed, and we spoke to the parents. The parents were rightfully upset."

The mothers also aren鈥檛 pleased with the way officers responded to them on the scene. Phipps said a police officer told her that her child, 10-year-old son Semaj Alleyne, was in the wrong for running from the dog. Williams said another officer told her 12-year-old son Devaughn Brown that if he didn鈥檛 stop crying, he would go to jail.

For his part, Wagner, a 24-year-old Thibodaux resident, said he has yet to receive a traffic ticket for obstruction of traffic, for which Comeaux originally stopped him. Wagner paid a $200 bond on a resisting-arrest charge and an obstruction-of-a-roadway violation and was released from the Lafourche Parish jail Wednesday night. He has a Sept. 10 court date.|||If this story is accurate I think the police officer should be reprimanded. If the person was already restrained and he released a dog on it which obviously can't tell the difference between children and a restrained man, then someone needs to learn some restraint and common sense. I think certain law enforcement agencies (not all) are given way too much power and way too little training. Having a badge and 60 hours from a community college or some experience in the military might not cut it. Maybe stiffer requirements should be required of all officers, like, hmmm, maybe a minimum of a bachelor's degree and 1 year of training??|||Sounds like a fair decision based on the facts presented. His dog breaks away and you want him fired? It was an accident and they took steps to insure it wouldn't happen again.|||Too bad this happened but perhaps the kids were in the way and getting the dog over excited.

What where they doing hanging around a criminal and a policeman?

Sorry, I love dogs and I know those dogs are trained very well. Something more must of been going on to get the dog out of control.|||If this guy did this intenionally, he should be prosecuted on whatever crimimal charges apply .|||Well since the NAACP wants him fired, then it is probably blown out of proportion, as usual. Remember the Duke fiasco?|||I have no problem with it. The kids should have stayed the hell away. The handcuffed guy had it coming.|||You make it sound as if the officer did it on purpose, when the article says the dog broke free from the officer who was trying to get it on a leash.

Do you even read your cut %26amp; pasted articles before you post them?|||Under the circumstances, I think the Chief has acted appropriately. He suspended the officer for one day without pay for failing to handle the dog according to policy and procedure and has removed the dog from service until it receives more proper training.

The NAACP has their own agenda and it has little to do with protecting their own people and more to do with media exposure. If any employee was fired every time a minor mishap occurred, all of us would be unemployed; members of the the NAACP included.

Based on the circumstances included in the article, the incident should be put to rest.|||Sounds like the dog and officer should be removed from K-9 service. As no one was seriously hurt, this was a first time offense, a reprimand seems sufficient.|||And investigation by the police departement into the arrest and events that followed, and appropriate displanary action.

In the mean time, warm applauds for an officers trying to keep the streets safe.

Why were the children allowed to loiter around the scene in the first place? If children see police and a police dog chasing a man they should scatter to avoid accidentaly becoming a part of the incident or being injured.|||The police and judicial system are dangerous and out of control. I don't trust them at all.

I hope the kids are OK.
