Essay #4(think of better title)

Tourism has changed throughout the years. Over time, popular tourist locations have become more and more commercial. Buses, parking lots, GPS tours, and integration with technology, are all aspects of a modern tourist location. Some people are opposed to the commercialization because they feel it takes away the true experience when visiting. Others argue that commercialization has improved the experience. Commercialization of tourist locations can improve the experience by providing facilities and opportunity that allow the tourists to experience their vacation in ways that they would not have otherwise.

One of the ways that commercialization has improved the tourist experience, is through an improvement in transportation. Improvements in roads give the tourists the advantage of getting to their destination easier and faster. This allows the tourists to focus on the destination rather than their transportation. Focusing on their destination allows them to enjoy their trip. When the tourists enjoy their trip, they are willing to share their experience with others and are more likely to come back. If there are less roads people wouldn鈥檛 go or enjoy their trip, however with commercialization it gives people the chance to get there and enjoy the experience. Having access to your destination is important, but once you arrive there you鈥檒l need a place to park your car.

One of the biggest issues when visiting a tourist location is finding somewhere to park. Finding a spot to park can be frustrating because not knowing if there will be a spot that is proper for your vehicle; finding a spot to park can be frustrating. This is why with commercialization; buses have the capacity of taking the tourists to their destination without worrying. Tourists are there to enjoy their experience being stress free. For the tourists that drive themselves, they have the first impression of wondering if they would have to walk very far to their destination. Distance is another result of commercialization, when combing it with amenities.

Having a mentor that guides you through the tour allows you to experience what you wouldn鈥檛 have been able to. It makes you knowledgeable of what is going on and gives you the opportunity to observe and take in the information being given to you rather than assume it. Other tourists get to go to places where they show you and tell you the specifics of the tour, such as how and why it鈥檚 there and the brief back ground of the tour. But for those who are rather more independent and want to go through the tour their way, they have the choice to do a self guided tour that includes a map, GPS, a more in control machinery that allows you to learn what you want. Combining it with commercialization, it gives the tourist the chance to experience what they want. Giving what the tourist want, they also have the need of amenities.

Tourists want to find the closest and economical hotels in their destination. Not to mention restaurants need to be close to the tourist so they can have a place to go and eat when they are traveling. Tourists are there to enjoy and experience the vacationing and coming home with memories so they can share it with others. While vacationing souvenir shops are popular with tourists. They have the access to shop and bring memorable things home to their loved ones and tell them about their experience as they were traveling. Without commercialization, all of the above would be limited and fewer tourists would have the intention of going on vacations and experiencing the fun part of vacationing.|||So far you have done a wonderful job.....use these tips and you will have an A+ on that paper.

Tourism is travel for recreational, leisure or business purposes. The World Tourism Organization defines tourists as people who "travel to and stay in places outside their usual environment for more than twenty-four (24) hours and not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes not related to the exercise of an activity remunerated from within the place visited."[1]

Tourism has become a popular global leisure activity. In 2008, there were over 922 million international tourist arrivals, with a growth of 1.9% as compared to 2007. International tourism receipts grew to US$944 billion (euro 642 billion) in 2008, corresponding to an increase in real terms of 1.8%.[2] As a result of the late-2000s recession, international travel demand suffered a strong slowdown beginning in June 2008, with growth in international tourism arrivals worldwide falling to 2% during the boreal summer months.[3] This negative trend intensified during 2009, exacerbated in some countries due to the outbreak of the H1N1 influenza virus, resulting in a worldwide decline of 4% in 2009 to 880 million international tourists arrivals, and an estimated 6% decline in international tourism receipts.[4]

Tourism is vital for many countries, such as Egypt, Greece, Lebanon, Spain, Malaysia and Thailand, and many island nations, such as The Bahamas, Fiji, Maldives, Philippines and the Seychelles, due to the large intake of money for businesses with their goods and services and the opportunity for employment in the service industries associated with tourism. These service industries include transportation services, such as airlines, cruise ships and taxicabs, hospitality services, such as accommodations, including hotels and resorts, and entertainment venues, such as amusement parks, casinos, shopping malls, music venues and theatres.
